Im Bereich des Aufzugbaus und der Lifttechnik müssen für die Sicherheit der zu befördernden Personen und für die Zuverlässigkeit der Fördertechnik einige grundlegende Anforderungen erfüllt sein. Zum einen müssen die verwendeten Kabel starken mechanischen Belastungen standhalten. So sollten sie eine hohe Biegewechselfestigkeit aufweisen, denn gerade beim Einsatz in beispielsweise Bürogebäuden sind mehrere hunderte Fahrten pro Tag keine Seltenheit. Das bedeutet eine Dauerbelastung auch für die Kabeltechnik – und das über Jahre hinweg. Daher müssen die eingesetzten Kabel robust und verschleißfrei sein. Weiterhin: Hohe Anforderungen in Punkto Personensicherheit. Eine maßgebliche Rolle spielt hier u.a. der bauliche Brandschutz, die Auflagen sind hinsichtlich der zulässigen Materialien besonders streng. Zum anderen bedeutet das sichere Verkabeln von Fahrstühlen natürlich weit mehr, als nur die energetische Versorgung unter Einhaltung des Brandschutzes sicherzustellen.
